Stream Brian Eno, 'Small Craft on a Milk Sea' →
(via NPR First Listen)
Okay, forget anything about Weekend (the band in the previous post). Or maybe do give that listen, because after that this soft and soothing Brian Eno beginning will be an incredibly welcome relief to your ears and your brain.
And also the title of the album is great. It makes me think of bird boats (by Nick Sheehy)
and Max crossing the ocean in his private boat to...
Sufjan Stevens Forsakes His Christian Fans to... →
My mom sent me this link about Sufjan Stevens in a Phoenix “local subculture free magazine (whose ads are as informative to someone like me as the articles)”, Phoenix New Times.
If, growing up, you: came from a Christian background (like I did) and bought into/participated in the “Contemporary Christian Music” scene (like I did), maybe this makes perfect sense to you (like...
Best Coast on World Cafe →
Interview and studio performance (“Summer Mood”, “Boyfriend”, “When I’m With You”, “The End”) by Best Coast recorded the day after they played in Philly last month (and it just aired yesterday?).
I know I mention Jimmy’s (Head Underwater) mixtapes from time to time because they’re filled with some things I already loved and new things to love. Now he’s put together a Best Of for you to stream.
It’ll be a good soundtrack for your day. I pretty much promise.
Links to all of the individual mixes are below…

The Walrus:
Directed by Klip Collective, Philly’s rising stars Sun Airway release a subtle, but beautiful first video for the track “Put the Days Away”, pulled from their upcoming debut album Nocturne of Exploded Crystal Chandelier on Dead Oceans.
And this is pretty much exactly how I feel when I feel like I want to listen to this song. ...

Stream Bob Dylan, 'The Witmark Demos 1962-1964' →
(via NPR First Listen)
Nope, not new Bob Dylan. Olllld Bob Dylan. From when he was like 24. (It’s amazing to me that his voice has always been the same. It sounds like an older man voice and not something that comes out of a 24-year-old).
Most of the recordings on The Witmark Demos 1962-1964 were made for the M. Witmark & Sons publishing company. Artists would record their songs for...
Cowabunga Babes - Hot Babez
Mostly I just like what Flamgirlant had to say about this:
flamgirlant:
You’re a hot babe. I’m a hot babe. Let’s go find a castle to jump in.
delicious-scopitone:
The « Cowabunga Babes vs The Zoltars » split cassette is available at KILL/HURT.
Or, insert your name and the names of your girl friends and play this as the theme song (accompanied by...
Dark Dark Dark Daytrotter session →
I thought that I had posted this video on Friday… so now it’s a double Dark Dark Dark day.
Dark Dark Dark: Bright Bright Bright (from Yours Truly on Vimeo)
Friday was day 3 of rain and between her voice and the piano and the brushes used on the drums, this has the appropriate rainy fall feeling… But today is a sunny morning! So hear the fall in it. And It’s still the...
You're amazing but... queue is a funny word. And...
Sigh.
Yes, I have been less attentive to this blogging thing lately… I do plan on putting some more stories up soon.
But! Not all of it is my fault. I had things for Friday, things for Monday, and things for Tuesday all queued up, however Tumblr changed something to get fancier and in doing so neglected to honor my queue.
So, sorry.
Just as useful as shaking my fist at technology.
