I heard today that "amazing" is so overused it has lost meaning: Bringing AMAZING back. Stories inspired by a phrase familiar to me: "You're amazing but... I don't want to date you." Plus dinosaurs and music and other amazing things I make excuses for and amazing things that shouldn't be excused. So, basically anything I like and my crazy stories. Right. If you feel the urge, you can send me dinosaurs or other amazing things at: sarahtricera@gmail.com
Tonight is Karaoke Night. National Mechanics, 9pm.
Last night. I wish I had more proof of it than a picture, the business card for a magician and a chocolate nugget. Going to karaoke with friends has become a Tuesday night tradition. Every week, we gather at a bar in Old City so I can sing and they can cheer me on (I have great friends) and we can all people watch. In the 5 months we’ve been going, not only have we become regulars, but we also know the other regulars. Not to the point where we all sit together or something, but in this roundabout way, we acknowledge them. We’re all connected through this love of karaoke-style singing and this Tuesday night outlet. There’s even a bit of regulation to how things happen- we arrive and leave at the same time every Tuesday, sit in the same/similar seating every time. The group can change from week to week, but we make it happen and I get to sing (again, I have great friends). Last night might have kicked things up a notch. The following happened: -I was asked to duet with one of our favorite regulars Karaoke Dave. All that in two hours! No wonder I love Tuesdays. And my friends. This is me singing Jump Around. Metal Steve is behind me, jumpin’.
The night below is a night I missed a month ago.
Epic. Amazing.
This is why we can’t stop going back and why you should come, too.
-There were balloon animals and instruments being created
-By a man who was also a magician
-Who had a flaming wallet
-And did card tricks I’m still wondering about
-Balloon instruments led to back-up bands for some singers
-And more dancing than my eyes could handle
-I sang Jump Around, which encouraged the audience to do just that
-The audience joined me on stage
-Dean the Pirate came in and sat with the magician, and the guys seated next to us got quite excited because they thought he was ALSO a magician (he’s not; showtunes are his thing)
-N*Sync and Backstreet Boys were represented (it was 90s night, I think!)
Tonight is Karaoke Night. The...month ago. Epic. Amazing.
