Stream: R.E.M., 'Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage: 1982–2011'

I have a soft spot in my heart for R.E.M.
I remember listening to it alone driving in my mom’s car to and from my summer job for most of a summer in high school. I think I had it on cassette borrowed from a friend. It was way after it came out.

I loved it for its clever lyrics. It has a certain whine and angst appropriate for high school. It probably still ranks somewhere on my favorite albums list, depending on how long the list is.

They had a good run.
And it’s probably a good listen for a rainy midweek afternoon.

Stephen Colbert, Brian Eno, and Michael Stipe sang “Lean on Me” together on the Colbert Report last week. It was adorable.
Michael Stipe looked like such a funny little man.
