We listened to this a few days ago at work. 
I have to give it to her: She’s catchy. She only needs to write a few lines and her song is done and everyone’s hooked on the repetition.

Here’s the thing (and it might sound ridiculous). I don’t want to like M.I.A. because her songs are violent.
I resisted “Paper Planes” for a couple years because it became popular right around the time I was mugged at gunpoint for the second time. Maybe it’s uptight, but I couldn’t get behind a song with gun shots in it after having a gun being pointed at me.

Eventually I got over it. Now it’s on my dancing and running mixes, and I’ll even do a white girl gun dancing motion. It is very not-gangsta, let me tell you, but when it’s just me dancing in my kitchen, it’s a lot of fun.

And so here we have a repetition of “live fast, die young.” I guess if that’s your thing, but keep me out of it, except for the dance party part.
