I heard today that "amazing" is so overused it has lost meaning: Bringing AMAZING back. Stories inspired by a phrase familiar to me: "You're amazing but... I don't want to date you." Plus dinosaurs and music and other amazing things I make excuses for and amazing things that shouldn't be excused. So, basically anything I like and my crazy stories. Right. If you feel the urge, you can send me dinosaurs or other amazing things at: sarahtricera@gmail.com
While I can’t go to see Sharon van Etten tonight because it’s sold out, I did get to see her today during lunch (thanks for the tip, Will!) at the XPN Free at Noon concert at World Cafe Live.
It was packed, several hundred people.
Her voice was amazing, as always, and the audience, all several hundred of them, were enthralled and silent. Because she’s that good.
I have to say though, this might be one of the last times I go see her. I much prefer her in the small, intimate venues (that now sell out). It’s one of those strange ownership feelings, the I-loved-her-when-there-were-only-20-of-us-at-a-show-and-now-I-don’t-want-to-share-her-with-the-masses.
But good for her.
She’s successful for a reason.
And you can’t tell because of the awesome quality of my age-d smartphone, but she looked really unconventionally pretty in that I’m-not-trying-to-look-pretty kind of way.
Oh, and her new album, Tramp, came out this week.
