You're amazing but...

NPR: First Listen: Austra, 'Olympia'

This here is a nice album for listening to while doing work at work. At least for me. It’s got happy beat to keep me motivated and enough downer to remind me that I’m at work. It might be too slow for cleaning at home, and a little too zone-y for driving, but it’s a good at your desk album.

Some of the vocals make me think of a mix between Lykke Li and a faster-paced 90s Bjork. That works for me. A little mopey lyrically, but poppy electronic semi-80s-ish musically (I hear something like “Thriller"and "Smooth Criminal” in the third track, “Painful Like”) — that also works for me.

Olympia, the second album of the Canadian band Austra, comes out June 18.
